Your website design represents your business online. It is the first thing most people see and many times this is where they get their first impression of the type of business you have. You may not believe it, but everyone judges your business by the way your website looks just like they judge you in person.
If you had an offline business of any kinds, let’s say a restaurant. Would you allow your employees to greet the customers in torn or raggy clothing? You would prefer to have all of your employees clean cut and looking their best in order to keep your customers happy and comfortable with your establishment. The same goes with your own website.
Think about it. When you visit a website, do you notice the colors, the maneuverability, and pictures on the page? Of course you do! So does everyone that visits. You do not want a website that looks like it was thrown together in a matter of minutes. This is your business and you want to show the pride you have in what you have to offer.
If your website is professional looking, is easy to maneuver, and is focused on your business instead of a lot of chatter or images that have nothing to do with your business then you will have customers that will stay on your website and this means they may buy your product or service.

Splash pages turn people off. Yes, they are very beautiful, but they normally have nothing to do with your business. There is no purpose in the world of business for splash pages. Many people just hit the back button when they are searching for products when they get to a splash page. Today is the day of getting information fast and they will look further instead of sitting their waiting for your splash page to load to get to your main website.
Next, do not use those flashy banners. These are a real turn-off. This does not mean you cannot use advertisements, but flashy banners or too many banners will not keep customers on your page. Most people are so use to these banners they ignore them any way.
Navigation is very important. You need your business website to be easy to navigate without the flash-based menus. This can slow down your website and as stated before, surfers want information fast. Be sure the navigation is in plain site and easy to use, or your visitors will be gone in a flash.
When they are visiting your website, have the information easily available and allow your visitors to browse but be able to find all information from each and every page.
Audio is another turn-off, no matter what anyone has to say. Many people are surfing the net listening to their own music and your audio if it does not have the ability to be turned off and cause visitors to run to the hills.
Remember, no matter what you put on your website it is a reflection of your business. Too much hype, non-prevalent information, too many banners, bad navigation, and shabby appearances will not keep customers on your website.
